Counter-Strike Source FAQs
Show Console
If you want to get your console to show, please do following:First quit the game, but make sure you're running Steam.
Then you rightclick on the Steam icon you got at the bottom right on your desktop.
Then you choose "games". Then you click the tab "My games".
Now you will see the list of your games, there you have to rightclick on the
"Counter-Strike Source" and make sure you choose "properties".
In the new window you'll find the "Set launch options..."
Click that and in the field you will have to write:
-console
Then you just hit the "ok" close all windows and start Counter-Strike Source!
If the console still wount show now, you must have done something wrong.
Error Messages
If you got a weird message when you try to join servers, like you wount get in and you're not able to play, please try following:
First quit your game and log out from "steam" Then you go to your folder:
C:\Program\Valve\Steam
There you simply delete your
AppUpdateStats.blob
andClientRegistry.blob
When you have done this, you can try start your game and try if it works.
If it still doesn't work, quit the game and log out from "steam" again.
Then you go to following from your desktop: start/drive/regedit
There you will delete following with their keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve
andHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve
Sure this looks a bit weird, but the thing is that
you will only remove stuff that have been changed.
This will probably do the trick so you can start play again.
Remove Nethgraph
If you got an annoying ticking thing on your right bottom when you play,it's the netgraph that shows your connection and fps (frames per second).
To remove this, try type
net_graph 0
andnet 0
in your console.Save Settings
There is a way to easy repair your own settings if someone ormaybe even you bind all your keys to whatever you dont like.
If you get to your folder:
C:\Program\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\
your_account
\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\You will find a
config.cfg
file there. In that file you got all your settings.
Now, if you're smart, copy that file and put it on your desktop.
Now if something happens and all your settings are screwed,
you simply go to your desktop, copy your orginal, go to
C:\Program\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\
your_account
\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\and replace your ****ed up config file with your orginal config file from your desktop.
You probably need to restart your game to get your orginal settings back.
But you might be able to execute it from your console. If you want to try it out,
you should type
exec config.cfg
in your console to reload your config file.Autobuy and Rebuy
You can autobuy weapons with the defaultF1
button when you're in spawn. If you want to decide what the autobuy will give you, then edit following file:
C:\Program\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\
your_account
\counter-strike source\cstrike\autobuy.txt
With the default
F2
button you do the rebuy of your previous set.And to control the order of the rebuy, edit following file:
C:\Program\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\
your_account
\counter-strike source\cstrike\rebuy.txt
If you can't afford the whole set of your autobuy or rebuy, you will automatically just get
the weapons and equipment you can pay for, and buy it in the order you've set it to.
Remove Annoying Hint Sound
Like a wind sound it appears with hint messages on servers. The solution is to type
cl_hudhint_sound 0
in your ingame console.Since your cfg nowadays gets replaced by the steam itself,
the solution is easiest by binding a key in your console.
To bind the command that takes away the hint sound you put
bind "l" "cl_hudhint_sound 0"
in your ingame console. That will bind the key "l" to that command. So when you here the sound,
just press "l" on your keyboard and the "cl_hudhint_sound 0" will be triggered.
I have personally binded the "K" with "kill", which makes you take suicide.
I good option when you are about to be knifed or defusing time is not enough XD
